What's been working, what hasn't been
So I've started using and figuring out what's working for my skin. I haven't had many flare ups, except for a pesky pimple/turned white head that I've tried to take care of. I used Mario Badescu's Drying Lotion twice at night which helped bring it down, now it's just darker and flat.
For those that have been actually working for me-
I got this Kiehl's midnight recovery concentrate maybe two weeks ago during a sale they were running site-wide, and although I've loved using it, I'm not sure it's improving my skin all that much. I'm thinking my night moisturizer, the Ole Henirkson Nurture Me, does a lot of the leg work as it keeps my skin soft. But still, this is such a holy grail for so many people, and I've found putting it on last, keeps my face pretty hydrating until I wake up the next morning.
The Drunk Elephant C-Firma is, again, a holy grail for their cult following and I 100% understand. It wasn't super easy to introduce this into my routine, as it inflamed my mild rosacea, inducing redness, but now it's easy to use 1 pump in the morning & it actually does keep my face bright for the day. I also appreciate the protective agencies in this. When I run out of this baby one, I'll have to decide if I want the full size, or try the full size of Kiehl's day oil & save a few dollars.
I came across May Coop's Raw Sauce on instagram and decided to give it a shot as it's directed as hydrating, and I've been using it both morning & night and I think it's helped my FAB's moisturizer be more... moisturizing in the morning. Also this smaller version is just $14 & I've heard it lasts a while. Other than that, I'm not sure what it's helped other than that. But it has maple in it... so that's cool.
And now what hasn't worked, or what I'm trying to work through-
This rose-oil blend from Pixi is a great oil, it's thicker than many, but the rose-hip is drying. I guess this is probably common knowledge with those confidently smart in skincare, however I wasn't fully aware of this attribute (I probably should've looked more into it before purchasing, oops). It took me a few nights/and mornings waking up with parched, dry, tight skin (which is my least favorable way to wake up because I feel the intense desire to throw my face under water) before realizing it was this oil.
Now I just bought this FAB ultra repair moisturizer a few days ago (June 3rd maybe?) and I am so desperate for day moisturizer that doesn't carry a $40 price tag that I over-looked some ingredients which was just silly. There's almost too much dimethicone in this, which effects the feeling on my face. It also does not seem all that hydrating. But as I stated above, i'm desperate so I'll actually finish this one.
