*that* watermelon mask from glow recipe
So this mask is wildly talked about and pictured on instagram and because it was new, cool, and exciting, I had to grab it off Sephora's shelf when I saw they shockingly had it in stock (even though I specifically went there to ONLY test out SPFs).
A few bullet points with ingredients and benefits with this mask include:
- there's the crowd favorite of Hyaloronic acid,
- Watermelon extract which is an antioxidant and amino powerhouse with soothing properties to ease irritation (also a hydrating benefit)
- There's glycolic acid and lactic acid (a fav combo)
- a long list of fruit: banana, pomegranate, pumpkin, and some sweet potato because why not?
- There's also some silicone in it.
Now I've only put it to use twice. I used it the first time by spritzing with my Mario Badescu aloe spray, putting a descent layer on, keeping it on my face for about an hour and a half and then rinsing, and following with the rest of my routine. To be honest I wasn't THAT impressed. It took me a minute to work with it, the texture is a PAIN to work with as it's incredibly slimy and slippery. It hydrated, sure, but I didn't really see the glow that it claims, which was disappointing. (It should be added that I'm ride or die for Herbivore's Blue Tansy mask and I kind of hold other AHA/chemical exfoliating masks to that one.)
I'm not the world's biggest fan of over night masks. It makes me a little uncomfortable and stressed out when I'm trying to fall asleep making my life hell'ish. BUT for the sake of this pretty mask, I figured I'd take one for the team, by team I mean myself. I put on a thick layer, stayed up for another hour or more and let it sink in a little. The directions say to rub it in until it has sunken in to skin- but that seemed wildly time consuming as it wasn't exactly doing that, so I just let time do it's thing. I put on another thin layer before I went to sit in bed for a little while longer and tried to go to sleep.
I ended up over sleeping more than I should've and long story short, this stayed on for about 12 hours, which I don't think is necessarily bad. After rinsing for like 3 minutes, it did leave my skin more supple and pretty darn soft. I saw a bit more "glowing radiance" than the previous use yielded, and even though I'm not a huge fan of sleeping masks, I would use it that way more than leaving it on for a short amount of time.
I just saw the glow recipe put out a mini duo of their blueberry bounce cleanser and this watermelon mask. I kind of wish I waited until this because I've heard good things about the cleanser.
